Abandoned in an Irvine Coffee Shop

Episode #46:

 Ajan Subramanian on UC Irvine.

Ajan Subramanian is a graduate of the University of California Irvine with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering.

Ajan had just landed in Irvine, California from Bangalore, India.

This was his first time away from home, so his mom and brother had come to Irvine to help him settle in.

One of those days, they were taking a well-deserved coffee break at a local Starbucks.

What was supposed to be a few minutes of caffeinated enjoyment turned into a frenzy.

Ajan’s mom and brother were informed by their airlines that their return flight had been rescheduled, and they would have to leave right away to make the flight!

So, without a proper goodbye, they literally left Ajan alone at the Starbucks - while he was still nursing a hot cappuccino!

So, just like that, he was in this new environment, having to fend for himself.

He felt separation anxiety - in addition to adjusting to new accents & difficult slangs.

Now, there is no need to feel sorry for Ajan. Things got better. And I am here to report that Ajan did just fine at UC Irvine.

In the Podcast with Ajan, we discussed this and other topics about UC Irvine:

  • Why UC Irvine?
  • Moving to US from India
  • Academics at Irvine
  • Nurturing interest in Research
  • Advice to Aspiring Students

If you are college-bound, this Podcast is a must listen to be inspired and motivated about your own future.
