Indian Institute of Technology, Patna

Indian Institute of Technology Patna, popularly known as IIT-P or IIT Patna is an autonomous institute offering education in science, engineering and technology. The institute was established in 2008 and located at Amhara, Bihta. It has been ranked as the 10th best engineering college by NIRF, MHRD, Government of India. IIT Patna also been recently ranked 19th among engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework 2017.

IIT Patna is a part of National Knowledge Network (NKN) that provides high speed core networking to all the knowledge related institution in India to connect scientific community of India.

IIT Patna has four departments offering specializations like Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Communication System Engineering, etc. and offer courses like B.Tech, M.Tech and M.Sc. To get admission in B.Tech courses, the aspirant needs to sit for JEE Main and later JEE Advanced. National level exam GATE needs to be cleared for getting admission in M.Tech courses. For pursuing M.Sc., the aspirant needs to sit for IIT JAM. IIT Patna conducts its own entrance test for taking admissions in Ph.D.

IIT Patna’s campus was strategically located in a calm environment, 35 kms away from the hustle bustle of the city. It was earlier operating from a temporary campus formerly used by Naveen Government Polytechnic. The campus offers various facilities like a central library, sports facilities, guest houses, medical unit, wellness centre, etc.
