Loyola College was established in the year 1925 by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) with an aim to provide higher education to student of every caste or community in a Christian environment. With the college offering only three courses in its first year, it today offers Bachelors, Masters, M.Phil and PhD courses in the field of arts, science and commerce. The college has earned ‘autonomous’ status in 1978 and has been elevated to ‘College of Excellence’ in 2014 by UGC. The college is affiliated to University of Madras and is accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade.
