Madras Christian College was established in the year 1837 by a missionary from Scotland and with a batch of just 59 students. The college went on to become one of the first colleges in India to gain an ‘autonomous’ status and was granted with ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ status by UGC. The college offers undergraduate and post graduate courses in the field of arts, science and commerce. The college is affiliated to University of Madras and is accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade.
