The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur is located in about 160 KMs north-west of Kolkata on the Howrah-Delhi Main Railway-Route, which was established by an Act of Parliament in 1960.NIT Durgapur was ranked 55 among engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017.
