Nationa Institute of Technology, Raipur (NIT-R) laid its foundation in the year 1956 and later the inauguration of the Institute building was done by our Prime Minister Hon'ble Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on 14th March 1963. From 1st December 2005, the institute has become the National Institute of Technology spread over the area of 100 acres as biggest campus amongst all the technical institutions of Chhatisgarh. The location of NIT-R is in the vicinity of Bhilai steel plant.
The Institute offers Graduate level courses in twelve disciplines and also post graduate and research programmes offered by the NIT-R with the vision that NIT aims to be a leader in technical and management education in India and to establish a unique identity for the development of high quality human and knowledge resource in diverse area of technology and management.
NIT, Raipur has ranked among 'Top 100 Engineering Institutes for Research and Teaching' in India by National Institutional Ranking Framework (MHRD) in 2016. Every year various conclaves involving eminent personalities from across the globe to provide a platform for the valued exchange of vital ideas.
