The answer is Yes. You cannot get into the Ivies or similar Universities in the US with GCSEs alone. You will need A Levels or IB, etc to be admitted.
Bear in mind that the acceptance rate in these colleges/universities is in single digits, so excellent academic credentials have to be demonstrated to be taken seriously.
