Hi! Some of the top notch ones are Stanford, MIT, UIUC, CalTech, Georgia Tech, University of Michigan, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, UT Austin, Cornell etc. You can check out ranking lists for more details.

While you cannot go wrong with MIT, Stanford, University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), Georgia Tech, UC Berkeley etc. I would also advise looking at colleges in Germany if you’re sure that automotive design and engineering is what you want to study and can see yourself working in that industry 10-15 years down the line. The automotive industry is largely based in Europe (typically Germany and Italy) due to the fact that VW, Fiat and their subsidiaries virtually own this market. Berlin Institute of Technology, Bayreuth University, and Technische Universität München are well respected names in the automotive industry.
